Guide to finding your unique bra fit

Ideally it is best to have someone do this for you as it is hard to measure yourself. If you don’t have someone to help you, do this in front of a mirror. Before you start, make sure you are in an unlined bra. Wearing a compression sports bra, a minimizer or padded bra will not give you the best measurements. When putting the bra on, make sure the band of your bra is parallel with the floor.

Step One: Band Size

Wrap the tape measure directly under your bust, all the way around your body. Sometimes you need to raise your bust up a tad to get the tape measure fully under there. You want to get the best measurement possible. The tape should be level with the floor from front to back. (This is where a mirror comes in handy). Try to relax and not hold your breath. Pull the tape snug but not too tight. You don't want it to take your breath away. You also don't want it too loose so it slips down. Write this number down. This is your underbust measurement and will help determine your band size.

Step Two: Cup Size

Wrap the measuring tape over the fullest part of your bust. Once again, making sure the tape is parallel to the floor.  Ensure you pull the tape as straight around as possible to the fullest part of your bust. We suggest leaving a tiny bit of room. The tape should feel snug, but don’t compress. This is your overbust measurement.  Write this number down. It will help determine your cup size.

Step Three: Bra Size

To determine your bra size, subtract your overbust measurement from your underbust measurement. For example, if your overbust measurement is 46 and your underbust was 38, you subtract 46 from 38 to get 8 inches. Every inch is a cup size (starting with A = 1 inch). In this case you would be an H cup size. When shopping we would suggest starting with a 38H bra size.

Additional Fitting Tips

Another thing to keep in mind. If you measured an uneven underbust number, round up to the nearest even number. For example, if you measured 37 go to 38.  Bra band sizes are only in even numbers. If the band is too tight we suggest going up one band size, but then you need to go down a cup size.

When you purchase a bra you want to make sure you are on the first hook (outer hook) when you have it on. A brand new bra should feel a bit snug.  When you raise your arms up it shouldn’t ride up. The straps should be adjusted so you can put a finger under the straps.   The BAND should do the lifting, not the straps.

Side note:  If your underbust measurement is under 38 add two inches to the measurement. For example, if you measure 30, go to 32. If you have an underbust measurement of 38 incher or larger, don’t add any inches.
